I need your help, what features you want?

Postby acalatrava » Fri May 22, 2009 4:25 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm developing the next iLocalis release that will be firmware 3.0 compatible. There is some changes that Apple has done into the new firmware and iLocalis needs to be modified. Right now I have a beta version running under 3.0 beta 5 firmware without problems and I have added two features that are in the WhishList forum:
- Backup for recent calls.
- Lock iTunes Sync and Restore when the iPhone is remotely locked.

Now I don't know where to continue, so here you are a poll created from the request on the WhishList and I need you to vote the two more important features for you, the more voted will be the first in being developed and I will keep developing as much as I can until the 3.0 will be released.

I would focus more on theft-prevention features (mainly sim-switch text and panic mode) because ilocalis was probably purchased mainly for the ability to track it if the phone gets stolen (it's expen$ive!)
all of these features would be very cool to see and remote ssh might appeal to a seperate audience if your servers can handle the load

I would like to see the ability to restart your iphone remotely. Sometimes ilocalis will hang, but a restart fixes it.

You do realize that if iLocalis stops working, you won't be able to send commands to it, right?

I can still send commands when it hangs. A perfect example is ilocalis will show the last known location as 1 or 2 days ago, but I can still issue commands to it. I usually have to reboot the phone for it to start updating again.

I think that a feature of showing iPhone's IP on the iLocalis.com would be helpful too.

Then it hasn't really "hung".

What exactly is the problem you're having?

Being able to remotely restart the phone is only useful under a very small subset of circumstances, where iLocalis partially malfunctions. I'd rather have iLocalis fixed, than this feature implemented.

Panic mode definately is extremely important with realtime tracking (I mean actual realtime tracking), also automatic text to be sent to another mobile when sim card is changed (is it possible to recover the changed sim number on the ilocalis user page).

Theft prevention and recovery is the number one reason anybody would buy ilocalis so its so important to implement features that will help in the quick recovery of a stolen (or lost) iPhone.

The first thing that a burglar do with the stolen phone is change the SIM card so this will be my number one request:
"Send SMS automatically if SIM has changed"

Aww, we only get to vote for 1? I voted for the panic button. But if I could rank them:

1 - Implement PANIC button on webpage to activate realtime tracking, lock iPhone, etc.
2 - Send SMS automatically if SIM has changed
3 - Let iLocalis enable Location Services even if is disabled from your iPhone Settings
4 - Prevent uninstall from Cydia if you don't let it from iLocalis.com
5 - Update iPhone's location on SMS request
6 - Customizable Lock message.
7 - Connect to your iPhone's SSH remotely from iLocalis webpage
8 - Facebook integration.
